how can I contribute

hello everyone, I wanted to contribute to open source and found this organization that aligns with my tech stack. I was able to find some issues to work on, but the maintainer is assigning them to other contributors. Recently, new guidelines were added stating that contributors should have the following:

1. At least a year of GitHub history
2. Consistent code updates throughout their GitHub life, especially the most recent 12 months

I asked for an issue to be assigned to me, but I was referred to these guidelines, which means I'm not currently eligible.
what do you suggest I do?

Starting last year we have been flooded with automated SPAM comments and automated PR updates that break the code. The policy is to prevent this. It's a blunt tool, but we have had little choice.
